Sox making moves while moving toward a Division title

Thank god the Sox are done with the Royals. Those guys may be near the bottom of the Central Division, but they beat the bejeezus out of the South Siders. Only one time did the Sox win a series against their rivals. If the Royals play as well against the Tigers as they do the Sox, but your playoff tickets now.

If the move of Rick Hahn to GM turns out to be true, than the Sox made a good move. That is no shot on Ken Williams, who directed a team that was in contention almost every year he has been at the helm. Hahn has been in the organization for 12 years, and has been behind the scenes most of the time, but he has paid his dues. I have had just sporadic contact with the guy, but he has always been guy that you knew would make it to GM eventually. I thought he would have been a good fit in Anaheim last year.

Other news: The Sox declined the Jake Peavy’s option. I didn’t think that was much of a secret. Peavy appears to be healthy, and has pitched well this year, but the Sox have a number of cheaper options coming through their farm system so they don’t have to move on the guy right now. No, I do not think he’ll return, but remember I am always wrong.

What should I say about the Royal series? Nothing!!!!! They are now in the rear view mirror. Thankfully, they still have a 2-game lead over the Tigers.

13 left.
