News surrounding the White Sox. John Danks is on the mend, and Alejandro De Aza is alright too. Remember, De Aza took a wild pickoff throw off his knee Wednesday afternoon, and had to leave the game. Fortunately, he’s fine, and is back in the lineup Friday.

The other bit of business deals with announcer Ken Harrelson. The Hawk was reprimanded by the Commissioner Bud Selig, and his own organization, after verbally attacking umpire Mark Wegner over the air, also on Wednesday.

To summarize, Harrelson pretty much said that Wegner shouldn’t be a Major League umpire. Yes, it was pretty rough, but Harrelson is a Sox homer about everything. Also, he was correct in saying Wegner’s ejection of Jose Quintana was awful. It was!!!!

Hey, read Harrelson the riot act all you want, but what was said to Wegner? Shouldn’t he face some sort of basklash? I know that any umpire punishments are kept secret, but I wish Wegner would have explained his reasoning behind the ejection.

Moving on..

Poor De Aza, leading off the game he takes a Felix Hernandez fastball off his arm.

He got back to the dugout fairly quick since Gordon Beckham sent one over the wall in left.

Beckham really enjoys the pitching of Felix Hernandez. The 2nd baseman went yard again off the King. First 2 home run game for Beckham.

Why the success tonight. Maybe it’s because Beckham is a true momma’s boy. I say that with admiration, so stop think I’m dogging the guy.

It just so happens that Beckham’s mom, and dad, were in attendance on Friday. I wonder if after the game they went to their son and said, “What struggles?”.

I’m sure having them in the crowd relaxed the guy. Beckham is a real family type guy, so having loved one’s so close obviously helped him.

It also helped Adam Dunn, who went yard right after Beckham’s 2nd shot. Dunn now has 17 on the year, putting him 4 back of Josh Hamilton for the A.L. lead.

I know it’s only June 1st, but I’m beginning to think the Sox may have something special going.

Game tied at 4 in the 8th, when Paul Konerko hits a liner to center. Michael Saunders misplays the ball off his face, and Konerko takes 2nd. 2 out later, Sox have the go ahead runner at 3rd, when Alexei Ramirez beats out an infield chopper. Next batter, Alejandro De Aza strokes a 2-strike single scoring another pair.

I guarantee you, the Sox would have lost a game like this last year.

They didn’t lose on Friday, winning 7-4. Sox remain a game and a half ahead of Cleveland in the A.L. Central.
