Man, am I a bonehead. I’ve been real busy the past 2 days, and haven’t checked my e-mail of late. If I would have, I would’ve noticed the Baseball IQ series featuring White Sox Director of Baseball Ops Dan Fabian going against Ron Wade from the Tigers.
I tuned in late, and I didn’t like what I saw. Fabian was down, if I remember correctly, 6-3 going in to the 9th inning.
Oops..Hit the rewind button. Baseball IQ is a baseball trivia shown on MLB Network, which pits 2 players trying to answer baseball (Dah!) questions. The game is played like a baseball game, with the winner of each inning gaining a point or points, depending on how many more answers one player gets over another.
Tonight the final question had to do with the top home run hitters in 2011. When it was all said and done, Wade said he could answer 9 of the top 20 home run hitters this past year. His first guess was one of his own guys, Miguel Cabrera. That guess was wrong, as Cabrera hit 30 home runs, and wasn’t in the top 20.
By default, Fabian won. I don’t think this will have anything to do with future results, on the field, between the teams this year, but the Sox will take any win over their rivals that they can.
Now I’m gonna throw you a change up, and head in a different direction. I was also sent an e-mail dealing with the White Sox mascot. Basically asking, what kind of animal is Southpaw?. Personally, I have absolutely no idea what it is. I’m not alone though, as most didn’t know what it was either, but they did make some entertaining guesses.
Good stuff!
Pitchers and Catchers report in just over 2 weeks. Let’s get it on.
