Once again, the Sox are off the mark against the Twins

The White Sox had to flying high on Tuesday. Coming off taking 3 of 4 from Oakland, and a rain out on Monday, the Sox needed two wins over the Minnesota Twins to get to the .500 mark for the first time since April 16th.

But the Twins had different ideas, sweeping the Sox for the 2nd time this season, winning the finale 1-0. Unless you are a Minnesota fan, you cannot name all 9 starters in the Twins lineup. Nothing against Rene Rivera, Lake Hughes and company, but these guys shouldn’t be able to handle the Sox as easy as they do. The Sox are back to being 4 games under .500.

Oh my gosh, did I mention Minnesota’s Ben Revere? Amazing fact: His Uncle, Paul Revere and the Raiders (his friends), and his grandpa, Paul Revere, were part of a group that alerted British troops that they would be attacked by British troops a few years back. Not sure what happened in that skirmish. I hope it turned out well, it’s just nice to see Ben Revere playing. Stop!! He plays with a bat and glove, not a musket and sword.

Sox had 8 hits, Twins finished with 4 hits. What happened? 2 things: The Sox grounded in to 2 more double plays, giving them 6 in two games, and they were 0-6 with runners in scoring position.making them 1-13 in two games. Those two stats are a sure recipe for disaster.

I read where the SportingNews announced their top 50 players. Not one White Sox was on the list. If it was a list for players who may make a future list, I might agree, but Jason Heyward over Paul Konerko right now is wrong. Konerko: Avg, HR, RBI: .321, 16, 52. Heyward: Avg, HR, RBI: .210, 7, 15. Heyward may become one of the all-time great, but right now he is not. I know they print these lists so boobs like me will get all incensed and write about it, but still. I know they play different positions, but they didn’t distinguish between positions, they just ranked their top 50.

Thankfully, the Sox start interleague play on Friday when they play the Diamondbacks in Arizona. The Sox own the National League, having won 142 games against the other league. That is the 2nd best in all of baseball. The all-time winning pitcher is none other than Thursdays starter, and loser, Mark Buehrle, who has picked up 23 wins against the NL.

Don’t forget Sox fans that on Monday, when the Sox battle their crosstown rival, the Cubs, participating JOHNNY ROCKETS will be selling Hotdogs for a buck, and it’s all you can eat!! Yummy stuff. All you have to do is wait three more days for dollar hotdogs. The place to chow down some dogs: 177 N. State St., 30 N. LaSalle St., 623 E. Boughton Rd. , Bolingbrook and 2835 Showplace Dr. , Naperville. Since the crosstown classic is played twice you will have 2 chances to grab some of the delicious J-R grub.

1st time: Monday, June 20th
2nd time: Friday, July 1st

The crosstown classic and Johnny Rockets, a great way to begin your baseball day.

Go Sox!!
