Ozzie Guillen’s speaks his mind.

Having been around sports teams for as long as I can remember, I can tell you most coaches, managers & team personnel are about as exciting as a sandpaper. One guy who breaks that mold is White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. 8 years in to his job, he has mellowed a bit, but he still has no trouble answering a question.

Whatever you ask, he’ll answer. Sometimes the answers aren’t what you’d expect, because they are honest. Even if you aren’t a huge sports fan, you will love the honesty and candor that Ozzie shows every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. (I recently heard that cliche, so I thought i’d use it)

Coming up on Tuesday, April 26th, Ozzie Guillen will be featured on ESPN’s award winning newsmagazine series E:60. Jeremy Schaap, who Ozzie thinks is one of the best interviewers in the business, takes an up-close and personnel look at one of the most engaging personalities in all of sports. A clip of what you will see:

Let me relate one Ozzie story for you, that I thought was very funny:

Spring training is about 12 days old, when one reporter has to have his question answered.

Reporter or R: So where will you bat Adam Dunn?

Ozzie: Well we haven’t made that decision yet.

R: Do you think he’ll bat 3rd or 4th?

Ozzie: Well, we’re considering both, but we haven’t made a decision yet.

R: So you’re leaning toward him batting 3rd or 4th?

Ozzie: We still have time to make that decision, we will put him where we think he’ll fit, but we haven’t made that decision.

Other reporters ask questions. About 5 minutes later

R: Do you expect Dunn to bat 3rd in the 1st exhibition game?

Ozzie: I don’t know, buy a F’n ticket. Do you have a bet in Vegas, or what?

Ozzie never got mad, or raised his voice, he just gave the answer the other 6 of us were thinking, but couldn’t say. As long as I’ve been around (8 springs), Ozzie has never said mean things, he just speaks honestly.

Remember, Tuesday at 7pm Eastern Time. 6PM Chicago time, and 4pm Pacific. I guarantee you will like what you hear, and see.

Go Sox!
